#RunningForJustice x Prayer Runs

Over the last few years, I have been organizing more and raising awareness about the epidemic of missing and murdered Indigenous womxn, girls, two-spirits and relatives. It got to the point where I felt like no matter how much organizing was being done, no matter how many advocates and families spoke about this issue, it wasn’t being heard or getting the attention they needed. When enough was enough, I decided to run in prayer, to honor our relatives taken, to remember them, and offer my prayers. I wanted to share my running platform, with our stolen relatives taken by this ongoing violence - to pray for their families, to pray for justice and healing. And as we have seen the deaths and murders of Black lives taken by cops, I realized our traumas and injustices are similar, rooted in racism and white supremacy. I ran for Ahmaud Arbery on May 8th, and on Global Running Day, I ran for George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Nina Pop, James Scurlock, Tony McDade and Ahmaud Arbery - supporting the Black and Black Indigenous relatives. My running has new purpose. My little mitankela, Rosalie, is running with new purpose for our relatives. Many are running and using their platforms to shine light on these injustices and honoring those taken. I won’t stop running for them.

SLC Air Protectors

The SLC Air Protectors is a Native American-led inclusive organization to recruit volunteers, raise awareness, perform community service, support existing initiatives, and take direct action that will address the on-going air pollution crisis in Utah. And the purpose of the UT Tribal COVID-19 Support program is to provide Native Americans living in Utah with the proper means of combating and preventing the spread of COVID-19 within their communities. Indigenous People are more vulnerable to viruses due to geographical challenges,  increased susceptibility, and the occurrence of comorbid health issues caused by industrial pollution that has affected thousands of acres of Tribal lands. This increased susceptibility could likely lead to the loss of yet another generation of elders reigniting hundreds of years of cultural trauma.

Intersectional Environmentalists

We are a platform for resources, information and action steps to support intersectional environmentalism and dismantle systems of oppression in the environmental movement, led by environmental activists and sustainability advocates.

What is intersectional environmentalism?

This is an inclusive version of environmentalism that advocates for both the protection of people and the planet. It identifies the ways in which injustices happening to marginalized communities and the earth are interconnected. It brings injustices done to the most vulnerable communities, and the earth, to the forefront and does not minimize or silence social inequality. Intersectional environmentalism advocates for justice for people + the planet.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT.

“In January of 2017, a group of 4 women inspired over a thousand people to join them on their run from Harlem to Washington DC. This event raised over $100k for women’s reproductive rights and inspired a movement that led to our first Brand Ambassador Team, National Summit and State Chapter Events in August of that year. These state events fostered amazing connections across the country and raised an additional $50k for Planned Parenthood. Using footage from the DC run, we created a documentary that premiered at the Women in Sports Film Festival in Oakland and went on to screen in a dozen cities.

Most importantly, we have built out a corporate structure that will allow us to grow, adapt and bring the mission of Run 4 All Women to communities around the globe.”

Launched in December 2014 by the African American Policy Forum (AAPF) and Center for Intersectionality and Social Policy Studies (CISPS), the #SayHerName campaign brings awareness to the often invisible names and stories of Black women and girls who have been victimized by racist police violence, and provides support to their families.
